It is a great way to boost your traffic through engaging and authentic content. However, being successful on TikTok requires a much different strategy than any other social media platform.
I’m going to share 3 things you need to know, in order to start selling on TikTok. Make sure you watch till the end, as I’m also going to show you how to easily do it yourself by using an off the shelf tool.
But first, why should you be selling on TikTok?
Since January 2018, the platform has experienced an 800% increase in its global monthly users and it is projected to surpass 1.2 billion. Being a somewhat new social media platform, there is relatively low competition with great potential to grow as a creator.
It is easier to reach a much greater audience on the platform allowing creators to grow exponentially faster than on other social media platforms right now.
The most followed TikTokers earn up to $73,000 USD per post… pretty insane 🤯
So, now that you know the benefits of being on TikTok, let’s dive right into my top 3 tips on how to sell on TikTok.
Tip #1: Create Authentic Content
Unlike the Photoshopped pictures on Instagram and polished posts on LinkedIn, TikTok is all about authenticity. The more authentic and real your content is, the more eyeballs it will receive. TikTok is more casual than Instagram, which is why it is appealing to more and more people.
You don’t need professional lighting, amazing sound, and a really good camera to go viral on TikTok, you just need to be providing value. Businesses like The Washington Post have been exploring this concept on TikTok, sharing more casual behind-the-scenes footage and by simply creating relatable content.
Tip #2: Recreate or Make Your Own Challenges
This is a great way to sell on TikTok. Joining challenges allows you to stick with trends and popular hashtags which can get you or your business more attention. A phenomenal example of this is Chipotle and their ultimate #GuacDance Challenge campaign.
The #GuacDance Challenge went viral on TikTok and resulted in the sale of over 802,000 sides of Guac - the most it has ever sold in history. And this all happened from one single campaign! One! So make sure to keep up with the trending challenges or even start your own that your followers can recreate and have fun with!
Tip #3: Sell Your Products in Your Bio
This is probably one of the most effective ways to sell on TikTok and it's all about the link in your bio. While TikTok allows you to link your Instagram and YouTube in your bio, it only allows you to link one other URL, limiting your opportunities to sell your products on the platform.
However, there are several different tools you can use to collect payments through your bio. As content creators are looking for more and more ways to collect payments using easier methods, this is a great method for any content creator to utilize.
How To Collect Payments From Your Link In Bio
Today, I will be showing you how to use LinkList from involve.me to not only get payments from yourTikTok bio, but also how to add multiple links to your bio using one link to hold all your other links - and all of this magic can be done without your followers leaving the TikTok app.
Not too shabby, ey?
To set up your LinkList, simply head on over to the involve.me app. If you don’t know what involve.me is, it’s basically an online platform where you can create interactive content for all types of purposes like ecommerce, education, marketing, and a whole lot more.
All you need to do is either register or login if you already have an account and it will take you to the editing platform.
To create a LinkList, click on create project. What’s great about involve.me is that it already has pre-made LinkList templates. To find LinkList templates, go to the left side of your screen and under “Categories” find LinkList and select the one that is most suited to your brand identity.
Once you have found the one you like most, just click on “Choose” and then you can personalize it.
Now, for the most important part: The Payment Options. For this to work, you’ll need an account to a popular payment platform like PayPal, Stripe or Mollie which you can easily connect to your involve.me account.
To enable payments on your LinkList, all you will need to do is go to the outcome page which you would like to sell something on. And on the right side of the editor preview, there is an option to “Collect Payments”. So you will just need to drag and drop this on the page.
You can choose whether you want this to be a one-time payment or a subscription & recurring payment depending on what product you are selling. Then, you can select which payment accounts you would like to offer your customers.
Here you have an option between Card accounts, PayPal, EPS, iDeal, and SEPA Directs. Once you have selected that, you can choose the currency, if it's a fixed price or a calculated price tailored to your customers preferences and you can enter in the price of the product.
You can even customize the text before and after the price.
Once you are finished editing your LinkList all you need to do is publish your project and then embed the link into your TikTok bio. And you will be ready to receive seamless payments through TikTok!
Now you’ll be able to let your followers send you tips & donations, sell digital and physical products and even get paid on an ongoing basis by selling subscriptions. You’re welcome.
